# SumizAI vs ChatLabs

Looking for a ChatLabs alternative? SumizAI and ChatLabs side by side: price, licence, platforms and what each one actually does.

## What ChatLabs is

ChatLabs is an AI platform consolidating access to multiple advanced models — GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini, Llama 3 — in one place, alongside image-generation tools like DALL-E 3 and Stable Diffusion. Instead of separate accounts with each provider, a user logs in once and picks the model suited to a given task.

Key features:

The platform offers side-by-side model comparison, a prompt library, and the ability to chat with uploaded files — PDFs, images, text documents — to extract information from them. Voice input and text-to-speech extend interaction beyond plain text, and a Chrome extension lets you use AI chat directly from any browser tab.

Who it's for:

ChatLabs appeals to individuals and teams working with text, marketing, or customer support who want access to multiple leading AI models without managing separate subscriptions with each provider on their own.

Use cases:

In practice, ChatLabs works well for writing and editing marketing content with help from several different models, extracting key information from uploaded PDF documents, and generating images for promotional material without a separate graphics-tool subscription.

Pricing and business model:

The Professional plan costs $29.99 a month and gives access to most pro models and platform features, including a limited number of daily queries to the strongest models, like Claude 3 Opus.

Limitations and what to watch for:

Daily query limits on the strongest models, even on the paid plan, can be a constraint for anyone using one specific premium model heavily. Access through an aggregating platform also means no direct relationship with individual model providers.

AI notes from conversations across multiple models:

ChatLabs offers no separate, organized notes system — the prompt library helps reuse queries, but an answer you want to keep as a ai notes entry has to be copied by hand into a separate app. A conversation with an uploaded document generates valuable insights that disappear once the session closes if not manually saved.

The browser extension as a bridge between AI and daily work:

The Chrome extension integrating ChatLabs directly into browsing means access to multiple models is always one click away, without needing to open a separate tab or app, shortening the distance between a question and an answer.

What's worth checking before choosing:

Before committing to the Professional plan, check the exact daily query limits for premium models like Claude Opus, and whether they match your typical usage intensity.

Bottom line:

ChatLabs is a convenient aggregator giving access to many AI models with document-handling tools, at the cost of daily limits and no organized notes archive. Anyone who wants ai notes from such conversations to land automatically in a searchable archive needs a separate notes tool.

Comparison with SumizAI:

ChatLabs and SumizAI differ in access model and purpose. ChatLabs aggregates many models in one subscription for comparison and document chat. SumizAI uses the user's own API key to one of seven providers at a time, and answers worth keeping land automatically as ai notes in the form of Markdown files in the user's vault, with a title and place in the table of contents assigned without manual work. Anyone who wants to compare many models in one subscription will pick ChatLabs; anyone who wants these notes from AI conversations to build a lasting knowledge archive will find SumizAI the better-fitting tool.

## What SumizAI is

A note-taking application built around a conversation with an AI model. You ask a question, the answer streams back, and the answers worth keeping become Markdown notes — filed into a vault that is a folder on your own disk.

A vault is a directory holding `base.md`, a generated table of contents up to six levels deep, and a `notes/` folder with one `.md` file per note. Before a note is written it is checked against the ones already there, so the fourth note about the same idea gets merged instead of added. Links between notes are ordinary Markdown links to files that exist.

The model is never ours: you bring your own API key to one of seven providers — Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, a local Ollama or your own server — and pay that provider directly. A question sends the table of contents plus at most five relevant notes within a 24,000-character budget, and the app shows you which five it used.

## Where they differ

- ChatLabs is a place to have the conversation. SumizAI is not a chatbot — the conversation is the input, not the product. What comes out of it is a `.md` file with a title, a place in `base.md` and a duplicate check against the notes already in the vault. If you only want to talk to a model, you do not need SumizAI.
- ChatLabs is paid software. Compare the two numbers directly: SumizAI is one dollar a month, one plan, and your AI provider bills you separately for the model you chose.
- AlternativeTo's description of ChatLabs does not mention Markdown, so check what format your notes end up in before you fill it up. SumizAI writes standard `.md` files to a folder you picked, and an unpaid account can still export all of them.
- ChatLabs runs in the browser. SumizAI is a desktop and mobile application, and on the desktop the vault is a folder on your own disk rather than a document in someone's cloud.
