What Arco is
Arco is a native Mac app for chatting with multiple AI models at once and comparing their answers side by side — the user types a question once, and each selected model answers in parallel, showing in a clear layout where the models agree and where their answers diverge. Over 400 models are available, including GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini, Mistral, and dozens more.
The Summarize feature sends all the responses to a chosen judge model, which produces a structured breakdown: where models agree, where they diverge, and which answer is worth treating as most reliable. That solves a real problem for people using several models at once — without such a summary, manually comparing five long answers is time-consuming and prone to missing subtle differences.
The pricing model — a one-time purchase of the Pro version, with model usage billed directly through your own OpenRouter key — means no monthly subscription just for the interface, but requires managing the cost of queries to several providers yourself, which can be unpredictable when heavily comparing many models at once.
Conversation privacy, staying purely on the device (no ai notes content from a conversation ever reaches Arco's servers), is a meaningful selling point for professionals working with sensitive business or legal queries, where comparing several models' answers is meant to check reliability, not to share the query content with third parties.
A grid layout of 1, 2, 3, or 4 columns lets you match the number of simultaneously visible answers to your screen size and the specific task — comparing two models for a quick fact-check calls for a different layout than an in-depth analysis of four different approaches to a complex coding problem.
For developers checking which model handles a specific coding task best, Arco removes the need to manually open four separate browser tabs with different chatbots — one question, four answers side by side, a decision made in a fraction of the time traditional comparison would take, and the chosen answer can be saved straight away as ai notes for the project's documentation.
Compared to ChatHub or similar web-based tools offering model comparison in a browser, Arco, as a native Mac app, offers better performance and system integration, at the cost of being limited to one platform — Windows or Linux users have to look for an alternative.
The risk of a "compare many models" approach is decision paralysis when answers conflict with no obvious resolution — the Summarize feature eases that problem, but the final judgment of which answer is correct still requires the user's own expert knowledge, especially for questions with no clearly verifiable answer, where no single piece of ai notes can replace one's own judgment.
For editorial or content-marketing teams comparing different models' writing styles before picking one for regular work, Arco lets that decision be made on real, side-by-side examples instead of relying on general rankings or reviews — every team has different requirements for tone and style, so a direct comparison on your own specific prompts tends to be more trustworthy than averaged benchmark tests.
It's also worth adding that the choice of judge model for the Summarize feature matters — if the judge itself is biased toward a certain answer style, the summary can subtly favor one of the compared models. Aware of this, some users rotate the judge between sessions to verify comparison conclusions are stable before saving them as final ai notes content for later use.
In short, Arco is a solid, native Mac tool for comparing multiple AI models' answers in parallel while keeping full local privacy — practical for professionals making decisions based on AI, but not a substitute for a dedicated these notes system for archiving conclusions drawn from such comparisons.

What SumizAI is
A note-taking application built around a conversation with an AI model. You ask a question, the answer streams back, and the answers worth keeping become Markdown notes — filed into a vault that is a folder on your own disk.
A vault is a directory holding base.md, a generated table of contents up to six levels deep, and a notes/ folder with one .md file per note. Before a note is written it is checked against the ones already there, so the fourth note about the same idea gets merged instead of added. Links between notes are ordinary Markdown links to files that exist.
The model is never ours: you bring your own API key to one of seven providers — Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, a local Ollama or your own server — and pay that provider directly. A question sends the table of contents plus at most five relevant notes within a 24,000-character budget, and the app shows you which five it used.
Every answer kept this way becomes one of these ai notes, ready to search again months later without hunting back through old chats.

Where they differ
- Arco is a place to have the conversation. SumizAI is not a chatbot — the conversation is the input, not the product. What comes out of it is a
.mdfile with a title, a place inbase.mdand a duplicate check against the notes already in the vault. If you only want to talk to a model, you do not need SumizAI. - Arco is freemium: there is a free tier and a paid one, and the line between them is the thing to read before committing. SumizAI has one plan at a dollar a month, so there is no feature held back for a higher tier — and an unpaid account still opens and exports every vault it already has.
- AlternativeTo's description of Arco does not mention Markdown, so check what format your notes end up in before you fill it up. SumizAI writes standard
.mdfiles to a folder you picked, and an unpaid account can still export all of them. - AlternativeTo lists no mobile version of Arco. SumizAI runs on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.
Which one to pick
Reasons to pick Arco
- it already fits how you work
Reasons to pick SumizAI
- the notes you want already exist inside conversations with an AI model
- you want the filing — title, chapter, duplicate check — to happen without you
- you want the result as plain
.mdfiles in a folder you picked - you would rather pay your AI provider directly than have a note app resell the model
