What BrewMemo is
BrewMemo is the PRIVACY-FOCUSED Notes App - 100% Made in Germany. The app's origin and approach reflect the German tradition of a rigorous approach to personal data protection, going beyond the standard requirements of many competing note-taking tools. The application is available on Android, iPhone, iPad, Android tablets, and through Nextcloud, running under a paid model.
Key features and functionality
Integration with Nextcloud, an open-source platform for self-hosting files and data, lets users who value full control over infrastructure sync their notes through their own private server instead of a commercial provider's cloud. Broad availability on mobile devices - Android, iPhone, iPad, and Android tablets - means users can use BrewMemo regardless of their preferred mobile ecosystem. The "Made in Germany" certification as a marketing element underscores compliance with strict European data-protection standards, including GDPR, which matters to users deliberately avoiding American alternatives.
Who it's for
BrewMemo is aimed primarily at mobile users prioritizing the privacy of their notes over the convenience offered by large commercial note-taking platforms. Nextcloud enthusiasts, already running their own self-hosted file storage infrastructure, appreciate being able to integrate BrewMemo with that same trusted environment. European users deliberately choosing products compliant with local data-protection standards, instead of American alternatives, find in BrewMemo a solution matching their values. People keeping sensitive notes - medical, legal, financial - on mobile devices choose BrewMemo for its declared privacy priority.
Use cases
Someone running their own Nextcloud server syncs BrewMemo notes through that infrastructure, keeping full control over where their data is physically stored. Someone switching between a phone and a tablet throughout the day uses BrewMemo's broad platform availability, keeping access to the same notes on both devices. A European professional deliberately avoiding American platforms due to differences in data-protection standards chooses BrewMemo as an alternative compliant with local regulations. Someone keeping sensitive personal notes values BrewMemo's declared privacy priority, choosing this app over more popular but less transparent competitors.
Pricing and business model
BrewMemo runs on a paid model with no free tier - a subscription or one-time fee unlocks the app's full functionality across all supported platforms. This model reflects BrewMemo's positioning as a polished, specialized premium tool for users willing to pay for a privacy guarantee and the product's European origin, instead of using free but less transparent alternatives.
Comparison with SumizAI
BrewMemo and SumizAI operate in entirely different areas of digital work. BrewMemo is a private mobile note-taking app with optional Nextcloud integration, with no built-in integration with artificial intelligence. SumizAI, by contrast, is a platform enabling conversations with multiple AI providers at once, running in the cloud and unrelated to privately storing notes. Someone keeping their notes in BrewMemo might additionally use SumizAI when they need AI help with research or generating content, then save the results in their private notepad.
AI notes in a private, European app
People pasting the results of conversations with AI models into BrewMemo as ai notes appreciate that such entries are treated with the same privacy priority as the rest of the content in the app, in line with strict European data-protection standards. Nextcloud integration means ai notes can be synced through fully private infrastructure, without passing through a commercial cloud provider's servers outside Europe. Availability across multiple mobile devices means access to accumulated ai notes stays consistent regardless of which phone or tablet the user happens to be using. BrewMemo's declared privacy priority also means even the most sensitive these notes about medical or legal matters stay protected under strict European standards.

What SumizAI is
A note-taking application built around a conversation with an AI model. You ask a question, the answer streams back, and the answers worth keeping become Markdown notes — filed into a vault that is a folder on your own disk.
A vault is a directory holding base.md, a generated table of contents up to six levels deep, and a notes/ folder with one .md file per note. Before a note is written it is checked against the ones already there, so the fourth note about the same idea gets merged instead of added. Links between notes are ordinary Markdown links to files that exist.
The model is never ours: you bring your own API key to one of seven providers — Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, a local Ollama or your own server — and pay that provider directly. A question sends the table of contents plus at most five relevant notes within a 24,000-character budget, and the app shows you which five it used.
Every answer kept this way becomes one of these ai notes, ready to search again months later without hunting back through old chats.

Where they differ
- AlternativeTo's description of BrewMemo does not mention an AI model. That is the whole starting point in SumizAI: you have a conversation with a model on your own API key, and the answers worth keeping become notes without you filing them.
- BrewMemo is paid software. Compare the two numbers directly: SumizAI is one dollar a month, one plan, and your AI provider bills you separately for the model you chose.
- AlternativeTo's description of BrewMemo does not mention Markdown, so check what format your notes end up in before you fill it up. SumizAI writes standard
.mdfiles to a folder you picked, and an unpaid account can still export all of them. - Both are run from the EU: SumizAI's operator is registered in Poland and the servers are in Germany.
Which one to pick
Reasons to pick BrewMemo
- it already fits how you work
Reasons to pick SumizAI
- the notes you want already exist inside conversations with an AI model
- you want the filing — title, chapter, duplicate check — to happen without you
- you want the result as plain
.mdfiles in a folder you picked - you would rather pay your AI provider directly than have a note app resell the model
