What EVY is
What EVY is
EVY is a US-based Mac app described as an "AI co-creator" that lives inside any app a user works in. The mechanics are simple: press the EVY key, say what's needed, and EVY turns the user's thoughts into documents, ad copy, or content — no typing long prompts required. The user speaks, EVY listens, and the result appears right where it's needed, with no switching between apps.
That approach sets EVY apart from typical AI assistants that require switching to a separate chat window, typing out a detailed instruction, and copying the result back into the target app. EVY eliminates that whole process by integrating directly with the current work context — whether that's a text editor, an email client, or a document in another application.
Voice interaction instead of typing long prompts has an added benefit for people who think faster than they type — dictating a thought out loud is often more natural and faster than crafting a precise text instruction, especially when a loose idea needs to become a concrete document quickly.
Someone using EVY throughout the day, generating documents, ad copy, and content across many different apps at once, produces plenty of valuable material scattered exactly wherever they happened to be working — in an email, a document, an editor. Without deliberately gathering those results in one place, it's hard to later recall which phrasing EVY generated best for a given type of task, especially after weeks of intensive work juggling multiple projects at once. Keeping standalone ai notes with the best results solves that problem.
SumizAI complements EVY exactly at that point: the most successful document, ad copy, or content fragment EVY generated can be moved into a local Markdown file as ai notes, gradually building a library of proven results independent of which app they originated in. A consultant using EVY for daily correspondence ends up with a collection of ai notes holding the best phrasing, ready to reuse for a similar task later.
These tools complement each other: EVY eliminates the friction between a thought and finished text inside any app, while SumizAI ensures the best results of that work survive as these notes available regardless of which app the EVY key happened to be used in. A freelancer writing for multiple clients at once can build separate these notes per client this way, holding favorite phrasing tailored to each company's communication tone, instead of re-tuning the style through trial and error every single time.

What SumizAI is
A note-taking application built around a conversation with an AI model. You ask a question, the answer streams back, and the answers worth keeping become Markdown notes — filed into a vault that is a folder on your own disk.
A vault is a directory holding base.md, a generated table of contents up to six levels deep, and a notes/ folder with one .md file per note. Before a note is written it is checked against the ones already there, so the fourth note about the same idea gets merged instead of added. Links between notes are ordinary Markdown links to files that exist.
The model is never ours: you bring your own API key to one of seven providers — Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, a local Ollama or your own server — and pay that provider directly. A question sends the table of contents plus at most five relevant notes within a 24,000-character budget, and the app shows you which five it used.
Every answer kept this way becomes one of these ai notes, ready to search again months later without hunting back through old chats.

Where they differ
- Both mention AI. The difference is whose key it runs on: SumizAI never resells inference — you connect one of seven providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, a local Ollama or your own server) with your own API key and pay that provider directly. Check what EVY does with the model bill before comparing prices.
- EVY is paid software. Compare the two numbers directly: SumizAI is one dollar a month, one plan, and your AI provider bills you separately for the model you chose.
- AlternativeTo's description of EVY does not mention Markdown, so check what format your notes end up in before you fill it up. SumizAI writes standard
.mdfiles to a folder you picked, and an unpaid account can still export all of them. - AlternativeTo lists no mobile version of EVY. SumizAI runs on macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.
Which one to pick
Reasons to pick EVY
- it already fits how you work
Reasons to pick SumizAI
- the notes you want already exist inside conversations with an AI model
- you want the filing — title, chapter, duplicate check — to happen without you
- you want the result as plain
.mdfiles in a folder you picked - you would rather pay your AI provider directly than have a note app resell the model
